Celebrating motherhood is a deeply personal journey, and capturing this special chapter requires a backdrop as extraordinary as the moment itself. Recently, we had the honor of documenting a breathtaking luxury maternity session in Costa Rica, blending raw natural beauty with high-end architecture.
Phase 1: Golden Hour Elegance at Marino Ballena National Park
Our session began along the pristine shores of Marino Ballena National Park in Uvita de Osa—one of Costa Rica’s most iconic coastal locations. Known for its famous Whale Tail sandbar, lush tropical palm trees, and soft ocean breeze, Marino Ballena provides an unbeatable atmosphere for fine art beach maternity photography.
To elevate the visual storytelling, we incorporated a wide-brimmed statement hat into the styling. This simple yet stylish accessory added dynamic movement, texture, and a modern editorial touch to the timeless beach portraits. As the soft sunset light filtered through the mist, we captured quiet, candid moments that reflected pure anticipation and effortless joy.
Phase 2: Modern Architecture & Intimacy at Kurá Boutique Hotel
As the afternoon light began to shift, we transitioned to the exclusive Kurá Design Villa (Kurá Boutique Hotel), perched high in the rainforest hills of Uvita. Renowned for its minimalist tropical architecture and breathtaking panoramic ocean views, Kurá offered an intimate and sophisticated setting for the second half of our shoot.
We curated a soft, high-fashion narrative across two distinct spaces within the property:
The Tropical Gardens: Utilizing lush vegetation and natural shade to evoke warmth, serenity, and a deep connection to nature.
The Iconic Infinity Pool: Leveraging sleek lines, reflection, and the dramatic horizon for bold, editorial maternity portraits.
By pairing the wild beauty of Uvita’s coastline with the refined luxury of Kurá, this session perfectly balanced raw emotion with elevated aesthetics. It serves as a true celebration of motherhood—timeless, sophisticated, and unforgettable.
